Happenings in Our World: Day 5-At Sea

On our ship, we had water slides with a splash pad underneath. The kids were so excited to finally have time to play on them today. Just as we got to them yesterday, Les went down his first time, and they closed them. Zak was really bummed that they wouldn't let him go.

The boys only did the small slides, but they were happy as could be. I don't even think they cared about the big slide because the line was really slow.

Camp Carnival Ice Cream Pig-out

On the ship there is age-appropriate activities for the kids. On Sunday, there were some activities for the whole family. One of them was the ice-cream pig-out.

We were the only family to show up for it.

Les won. He was so proud of himself.

The other family activity was a scavenger hunt. Our family won that activity too!

Dinner

When we showed up for dinner tonight, Davey was in a wheelchair.

Apparently, he found one sitting around and decided to use it.

Today was his 16th birthday, and so that was his gift to himself. I guess the old age is really getting to him!

And Les wanted a ride too!

At dinner, Romeo, our waiter had fun with the boys. He folded their napkins into things.

He made Zak's into a mouse, and then the mouse started to jump and do tricks.

And her turned Les's napkin into an elf shoe!

For Davey's birthday, Aunt Shelli got a bunch of matchbox cars so that we could all give him a car for his 16th birthday. We all did it throughout the day. At the end of the day, she had a few left, so she brought them to dinner.

She slipped one to the waiter, and he brought it out on a plate along with his ice cream and cake.

She also got some cute girls at the next table to give him one.

You should have seen how fast he wiped his face and sat up straight as they came over!

Every night, the waiters danced to a song.

They were so cute.

Flower for Grandpa

After dinner, Grandpa Lynn arranged for us to throw roses into the water in memory of Brian's dad that died 7 years ago. He was the reason that we were all able to take this cruise together, along with the generosity of Grammy and Gramps.

It wasn't easy getting permission to do this. The ship had to call someone in Environmental protection, as well as get permission from the ship's environmental officer, the captain, and all sorts of different places.

Finally, the last night of the cruise, everything was in place, and we met the ship's environmental officer, who then sent us with security to a private place, where there wouldn't be interruptions.

Everyone was given a rose, remembered Grandpa, and threw a rose into the water. It was a very special moment.
